Choose rules you understand

A mining pool coordinates miners and distributes rewards according to its published method. Pool mining generally reduces the variability associated with finding blocks alone, but it cannot guarantee profit. Compare the supported coin and algorithm, payment method, fees, minimum payout, schedule, and account-security features before choosing.

Payment methods allocate risk differently. FPPS generally bases payment on accepted work and includes an estimate of transaction-fee revenue. PPLNS distributes applicable block revenue according to eligible recent shares, so pool luck can affect timing and results. Read the chosen pool’s precise definition; names alone do not explain every deduction or condition.

Connect one worker carefully

Use the pool’s current official setup guide for your device and coin. Enter the stated server address and port, and the account or wallet identifier the guide requires. Give the miner a distinct worker name so you can recognise it later. Some pools use account-based login; others use a receiving address. Do not put a wallet recovery phrase into any of these fields.

Save the settings and look for accepted shares. A worker may appear only after its first accepted work and the next statistics update. Verify that it appears in your intended account, rather than assuming a connection message means your rewards are credited correctly.

Trace a payout in order

First check eligible or confirmed balance, then the payout threshold and schedule, then the receiving address. If the pool has created a transaction, use its transaction identifier to inspect network confirmation status. A pending pool balance and an unconfirmed blockchain transaction are different states. Fees, thresholds, and supported payout networks can change, so consult current rules.

  • Copy a receiving address from a wallet supporting the correct coin and network.
  • Record the first payment and reconcile it with the pool’s history.
  • Protect payout settings and review any unexpected address change immediately.
